SEATTLE - One of the Army's first statues recognizing an enlisted man is being dedicated outside Fort Lewis to honor a sergeant credited for helping to make the Lewis and Clark expedition a success.

He was the only member of the Lewis and Clark expedition who wrote a journal entry for each and every day of the three-year journey.
